Grade level: 2nd thru 5th grade
Objective: The students will be able to become more familiar with their number facts. The students will be able to practice addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication problems in the form of a game.
Materials: math flash card, hour glass, white boards to keep score
Direction: The students will need to get into groups of pairs. Each group will have make a choose of addition/ subtraction or multiplication/division cards. The students will have to take turns turning over a purple card, a green card, and a blue card. Once the cards are turned over the students will then need to solve the problem. The student (A) that is solving the problem has 1 minute to do so and the other student (B) needs to keep track of the time using an hourglass. When the time has expired and students (A) has not solved the problem, then student (B) will have the opportunity to solve the problem within 1 minute. If neither student solves the problem then the cards are to be turn back over and it will be the other student’s chance to turn over a purple card, a green card, and a blue cards. The steps will start over with student (B). The student with the most cards will win the game.
